Comparison of Online Mapping Sites for my Address 734 N. 57th St
Google Map
Google does a nice job of labeling the streets in this area. All the streets are shown very well. For example, North 57th St is just like it shows its on a curve along with 58th and 56th and shows our house at the end of the block on the corner which is right where it is. Google does a great job compared to other sites I viewed.
Yahoo! Map
Yahoo does not do as good of a job as Google. First off the point that is suppose to be my house is off about 100 yards. It also does a horrible job showing the curve on our street. I believe that 57th St is more curved than the map gives it credit for. I also think streets around us are more curved that this map makes them look.
MapQuest Map
MapQuest shows us a map very similar to yahoo but I feel that it is easier to read, compared to yahoo. The colors fit well with the map and the font/size of letters are better. It also gives the viewer a choice of sending the map to a cell phone and even can find bars and hotels close to the residence. Very convenient.
MapsonUs
Mapsonus shows us a very nice location of where my house is but gives us a very small and difficult map to read. The Map looks like it was made for someone to read on a cell phone. Even though they made the font larger to make up for the size of the map box I still think that this falls in last place. The Star is right on the location but it does not offer any other services.
Maporama Map
Maporama gives us a very nice looking map of my block. Although it looks nice it does have some major flaws to it. First 57th St.has more bends than the maps shows, and most importantly the location pin is off by almost a block! It may look very nice but maps are for finding places not looking nice.
Live Map's
Live Maps shows us the newest technology that maps have to offer. It gives us a 2D and 3D perspective of the map. It also has a bird's eye view that gives you a clear picture of what you’re looking for. This map has the pin right where it should be but lacks on the curve of 57th St. Overall I am very impressed with Live and feel this is clear and to the point.
