Lab 8 - Instructions to Scanning your Aerial Photograph (Cart Lab)


1.Bring Aerial Photograph to Cartography Lab DSC 292  - Ask Jeff or Rex for the Access code
2.Find Scanner Located on the back West Wall.
3.Place Aerial Photograph face down on the Scanner Bed and close the lid.
4.Log in to the computer connect to the scanner (ask Jeff or Rex for the account and password).
5. Select Go > Connect to Server to connect to your myfolder. You will store the .tiff on myfolder,
example connect string "https://myfolder.unomaha.edu/usr/jrennie/"
6.Log in using your UNO NET ID and password.
7.Press the document button on the scanner

8.The software will start automatically. 
9.Choose Preview as your application   (upper right corner of the window)
10.Choose 600 DPI (Left side of window)
11.Choose grayscale 8 bit (Left side of the window)
12.Click Accept Scan (lower right of the window) then, choose "Scan With Current Resolution" radio button.
13.Wait until the scanner is done working and the Aerial Photograph appears in the preview window
14.Choose File > Save As and Save to the desktop in a TIFF format, click "Where" and choose the Desktop directory,
name your file after the name of the photo which is located in the upper right hand corner of your analog image example - "bmz-1cc-290".
15.Copy file from desktop to your myfolder by dragging the file from the Desktop to myfolder.
16.Delete file from desktop (drag it to the trash can).
17.Disconnect your myfolder (drag it to the trash can).
18.Log off.
19.Head back to the GIS lab
