Page of Classical Links

Alexander the Great on the Web - Formerly "Alexanderama," the granddaddy of all Alexander link pages.  If it ain't here, it probably doesn't exist.

Waldemar Heckel's Bibliography - Thorough and regularly updated, this is simply the best bibliography of books and articles about Alexander, Macedonia, and related topics on the web.  Thank you, Dr. Heckel!

Alexander the Great's First Homepage - Londoner Thomas William-Powlett was the first online to create an Alexander homepage back in 1994.  It's not an "academic" page, but still among the best introductions out there.  The FORUM, a great place for discussion and questions.

Alexander the Great: From Here to Eternity - Alexander by John J. Popovic with quite a number of fun, interactive options.

Hephaistion - Philalexandros - Related to Alexander, but not precisely about fiction.  This is the other "Alexander" website that I maintain.  Dedicated to ATG's best friend and officer, it has a detailed history of Hephaistion's career, the sources available (ancient and modern), as well as images of Hephaistion in ancient and Renaissance art.  It's written for a general audience.

Ancient Greece in Fiction - Royal Holloway University of London Professor Nick Lowe's extensive collection of titles for historical fiction set in Greece from the Bronze Age through Cleopatra.

Ancient Rome in Fiction -  Richard Stockton College Professor Fred Mench's similar page of historical fiction about Rome.

The Greek World of Mary Renault - Great page kept by Ed Stephan on Ms. Renault.

The Classics Pages - Kept by Brit Andrew Wilson with all kinds of information in a fun, engaging, and approachable format, including an "Odysseus Game," recent issues having to do with classics in the news, info on women, art, Latin help, and a place to ask specific questions about classics from a professional, et al.  Highly recommended.

The Perseus Project - The most extensive educational classical site online.  Includes an  all-important search feature which will bring up many of the ancient sources on various topics and persons.  Nice place to visit and waste some hours.  The online complement to The Perseus Project CD-ROM.

Rogue Classicism - A blog devoted to various issues in the classics from job announcements to popular culture to museum tours + "This Day in Ancient History" (what happened on the current date in the classical world).

Classical Myth: The Ancient Sources - Important and careful page by University of Victoria's Professor Laurel Bowman on classical myth.

Livius: Articles on Ancient History - As the subtitle says: articles on a wide variety of ancient sources, written by Jona Lendering, a contributor to Pothos.org and author of a recent biography about Alexander Alexander de Grote. De ondergang van het Perzische Rijk (Alexander the Great. The Demise of the Persian Empire).  Good for a solid introductory summary on a wide variety of topics.
