Personal Information

My name is Rebecca Suiter. I am from Omaha and I have never lived outside the city. My family and I are very close. I am the second oldest of four. I have two sisters and a brother. My parents are amazing people. They were both born and raised in Omaha. My mom is a principal at an elementary school and my dad works as an electrician. I really enjoy being outside. I plan on running my second half marathon this spring in May.

Education
My education has always been very important to me. For grade school, I attended St. Pius X/St. Leo School and then for high school I went to Skutt Catholic High School. I was involved and enjoyed high school very much. I was an editor on the yearbook, was in the pottery club and I ran cross country and track for all four years. I am a sophomore this year at UNO. I enjoy school and I feel lucky to have received the education I have so far.

Travels

Traveling is something that I love to do. Since I was little, my family has taken camping trips across the country. Some of my favorite places that I have traveled to are the Black Hills in South Dakota, Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Tetons, the Red Wood Forest, and Bonita Beach. Most of the places I have gone to are away from busy cities but I have been to a few. They include San Francisco, San Antonio, Chicago, and Las Vegas. I have been out of the country twice. I went to Matamoras, Mexico and Barcelona, Spain. My uncle owns a spa in Barcelona and I hope to go back soon to take advantage of this great family connection.

Major

I have always known that I want to work in the schools. My major is Elementary Education with a specialization in special education. I currently work at Ashland Park-Robbins Elementary school. This has been a great opportunity for me to get some awesome experience. I work one on one with a ten year old boy with an extremely low IQ. It is a challenge but I look forward to going to work every day and I am excited to have my own classroom one day. I also plan on getting my masters degree in behavioral disorders and work at Boys Town in the near future. I have always thought that Boys Town would be such a rewarding place to work. I also want to coach high school cross country on the side. Not only would I get to lead a team, I would also stay in shape.

Why I'm taking this class.

I am taking this class as an elective. It meets the requirements for a subject area. I did have a few choices though. I think Geography is interesting. I enjoyed learning about it in school. The different areas that can be studied like human and land geography intrigue me. I like the fact that our class is small so that I can actually pay attention and learn the material. This way, I will get something out of this class. I think it should be a great semester!
